Chinese and Southeast Asian Caustic Soda Prices Rise Sharply After Lunar New Year Holidays 2025

The Chinese caustic soda flake market is in short supply, with some places reporting stable prices and some             places reporting increased prices. Caustic soda flake continues to be promoted for use in the alumina industry.

Chinese suppliers reported price increases of 10 to 20 USD/ton after the Lunar New Year holiday, the price trend     continues to be unpredictable.

As of February 11, 2025, the spot price of caustic soda in the Asian market increased as companies returned to        buy caustic soda after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Caustic soda prices in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia increased sharply by 20 - 30 USD/ton.

Demand for caustic soda in alumina production continued to increase strongly, this move continued to push            caustic soda prices up.

Some sources from China said that caustic soda supply is very limited.
