China's flake caustic soda prices drop as supply exceeds demand
Supply: The weekly production of Chinese flake caustic soda enterprises from March 3 to March 7 was 108,320 tons, an increase of 3.34% compared to the previous week's 104,820 tons. The weekly production of enterprises in the Northwest region was 86,990 tons, up 4.43% from the previous week's 83,300 tons. During this period, businesses resumed production, and the flake caustic soda production capacity of some enterprises in Inner Mongolia and Gansu was increased, leading to a rise in supply. Both national and Northwest regional flake caustic soda production volumes increased compared to the previous month.
Demand: Market demand showed little fluctuation, and trading activity remained sluggish.
Cargo shipment: No abnormal signs were observed.
Inventory: China's total flake caustic soda inventory stood at 52,500 tons.
Market sentiment: Most industry players held a pessimistic outlook, negatively impacting the market. On the night of April 9, the U.S. imposed a 105% tariff on Chinese goods, creating a significant obstacle for the manufacturing sector of the world's most populous country.
Overall: During this period, purchasing demand was weak, while flake caustic soda production and inventory levels continued to rise.
